Duigan’s film charmed audiences on its debut, making a star of lead Noah Taylor as Danny, a young man crushing on his childhood best friend Freya (Loene Carmen) and rallying against the isolation of rural New South Wales in the 1960s.The film also made a star of Ben Mendelsohn .

Screening is introduced by cinematographer Geoff Burton followed by a Q&A.

Noah Taylor returns to his role as Danny Embling, now at boarding school and with a new focus for his teen passion, the Ugandan exchange student Thandiwe (Thandie Newton). A beautiful piece of nostalgic charm, Duigan’s second film in his planned (but unfulfilled) trilogy also features Naomi Watts and a young Nicole Kidman as head girl from the local girl’s school.
