Austral Avenue is a collaboration put together by Jane O’Neill. Austral Avenue began as an independent gallery space located in a house in Brunswick, Melbourne. The gallery was started with two goals in mind: to exhibit artists who had not had a great deal of exposure within Melbourne and to produce essays that corresponded and spoke back to each exhibition. A total of twenty-one artists exhibited in the gallery space during November 2005 until November 2007, and Austral Avenue – An Experiment in Living with Art is a culmination and record of these exhibitions.
