American Colour 1962–1965 is an edited collection of colour photographs taken by English photographer Tony Ray-Jones early in his career. Ray-Jones arrived in America in 1961 to study graphic design, and it was during this time that he learnt the art of photographer. On the busy streets of New York – in places such as Fifth Avenue, Times Square, China Town and Little Italy – Ray-Jones developed the ability to isolate particular moments. Presented here is a collection of street images and scenes from New York that show an incredible attention for detail. Taken from the National Media Museum’s archives, these photographs have been published here for the very first time. Published by MACK (London).
